Uninstalling the package "flashplugin-installer" and installing "adobe-
flashplugin" seems to have solved the problem.

I'm having similar issues with flash (specifically youtube) and firefox.
The tell-tail sign besides firefox freezing is pulse audio stop working
for anything. I can kill firefox (via tty1) but sound doesn't work until
I either logout/login or reboot.
