Same problem with Ubuntu 14.04.1, Chrome Version 39.0.2171.65 (64-bit)
I think this issue is related to the driver of video card. I am using
Nvidia GForce 8400 GS.

Exactly same problem after I resume my laptop from sleep. It happens
after I upgraded my Ubuntu from 12.04 to 14.04.
But Chrome Browser window is OK.
