This issue has been a pain in the you know what, for quite some time
now. I was not sure if it is MediaWiki or Firefox. Since I only use
Ubuntu on all my clients, they were consistently broken. Over the years
I have gotten used to working with invisible dashes.
It will be really cool to get a fix

Just had the same problem on a embedded system with network-manager
system install. I had to disable use of an IPv4 setting called "never-
default" when I set it to "true" this bug occurred. Might be the
problem.

Some stations regularly skip, others stop playing after half a minute.

Thanks for pointing out uninstalling the shell extensions. I had the
same problem and switching off all custom shell extensions helped
instantly.
Basically, this also urges an audit of gnome-shell and associated
libraries, as this type of crash _could_ be a security issue triggered
by extensions (
I am using Ubuntu 17.10 on different machines and noticed this problem
only on a machine that was upgraded from earlier Ubuntu version. It does
not affect my clean 17.10 installations. Could this be affected by
(incompatible) settings of previous releases?

Hello, i got the same error after log into my brandnew installed ubuntu 14.04.
It was the second time installing the system
with no error at the first installation.
The difference lies in activating the SATA-AHCI-BIOS-option for my hdd at the
second installation. Switching it back no error

update:
now I have tried 3 different ways from terminal to retrive mime information
from a .txt file on a davs:// resource with the problems on mime type detection
in Nautilus, if the drive is mounted to Places via "Connect to Server..." the
result is quiet
