Seems to be a bug in Ubuntu (config).

This would need fixing on previous ubuntu version IMO. I alos just had this
problem with 12.04.
An end user would definitly not realize that restarting firefox would fix it
and so in my opinion this should be classify as system freeze and treated as
such.

I love this -- feature -- ! It's not a bug but something really
interesting when searching a song for example, I use it really often and
before we have another solution (yes, click on it should be a good one),
you've just drop the feature !

It's like if Gnome want to waste everything this project had built...
Like the decision you have done for unity instead of gnome shell, I
think gnome choose the bad way.
