Thank you so much for this information Butterfly (kelebek333), worked
perfectly!
All I needed was a simple 10-line xorg.conf file in /etc/X11. Fantastic!

Public bug reported:
NVIDIA 340.108 with all patches (up to the 5.11 patch) is randomly
crashing (Core Dump) with Xorg 1.20.10 on Linux Kernel 5.12.0-rc5. It
works fine on the previous Kernel 5.11.
The Core Dumps (crashes) are not frequent, but randomly occur, and are
always triggered while using
Bug Report Continued from #8:
Also included in the Core Dump is "libglx.so", related to Nvidia.
So, that's 2 Nvidia files: libglx.so & nvidia_drv.so

Hi Butterfly (kelebek333),
On the contrary, an Nvidia 340.108 patch is probably required for Linux
Kernel 5.12.
I've been testing Linux kernel 5.12 with the all the Nvidia 340.108
patches including for kernel 5.11) and I'm getting random 'core dump'
crashes. It works fine with kernel 5.11, but no
I would like to thank and commend Butterfly (kelebek333) for making the
latest Linux Kernel 5.9 series "buildfix_kernel_5.9.patch" available for
NVIDIA driver 340.108.
Applied this patch using Linux Kernel 5.9.2 and it is working perfectly.
Summary of patches for NVIDIA driver 340.108 (must be ap
m looking forward for the next Nvidia driver patch(es) (if they are
needed) for soon to be released Linux Kernel 5.8-rc+.
Thank you very much again!

This appears to be a consistent trend, the Nvidia driver being broken by
every incremental Linux kernel release without any prompt response by
Nvidia developers in the form of a patch (fix).
Are we Linux users to expect this with every new kernel release going
forward? It's quite frustrating.

I confirm that NVIDIA driver 340.107 fails to build or work with Linux
Kernel 5.1.0.

however, it does not work for kernel 5.1. Another patch is needed.
