Great, thanks. I should have also asked you to check the CPU usage
before and after the change. Although I can see what the main problem
is: The default thread type being "kernel" (real-time) will drown out
the rest of shell's ability to redraw, especially with high frequency
mice.

I also wonder if the (relatively new) idle inhibition logic in Mutter
might be buggy. For example, if nothing is changing on screen starting
with idle inhibited, and then the last thing that changes is idle being
uninhibited, does the idle timer start counting down as if something did

After my patch when I try to reproduce crash, nautilus says:
nautilus[19488]: gtk_stack_set_visible_child_name: assertion 'GTK_IS_STACK

But at least it not crashed and looks usable without fear about "oh, all
