We rewrote the update notifier in Qt/C++ and got rid of the aptdaemon
dependency earlier in the Noble cycle, so this is now resolved in Noble.

I've prepared a patch like suggested by @pjb1008 but I wasn't able to

EDIT: But I can confirm that adding the option "--socket" to the luatex
command fixes the issue.

And no I don't think we ever had much chance of catching this in early
testing, because:
* I didn't know some of the code being moved is only used on Nvidia.
* Even after I started testing Nvidia in response to this bug and
developing a fix, the problem is very subtle for me. Almost
imperceptible

I have a laptop with an integrated intel intel gpu, 2/3 days ago it was working
fine; I have 1 monitor plugged with hdmi and the other one with USB-c
Now, the one plugged with USB-C get a lower resolution 1024*768 (not
changeable) if the HDMI is plugged
This one really affects my productivity. It's not only terminal it's also slack
and some other apps.
Looking forward to @Daniel's PPA.
This also raises a question of testing upstream packages by Ubuntu team, as
clearly this wasn't tested in all possible usage cases. I understand not
