The laptop has 2 speakers on the bottom and 2 speakers on the top. When
plugging headphones into the 3.5mm jack, the bottom speakers are auto-
muted as they are supposed to be (confirmed this in alsamixer); the top
speakers however continue to output sound- the headphones work

Headset microphone not properly recognized after 23.10 upgrade

My wired headset (hyperx cloud 2) has a built in microphone that was
working perfectly fine in 22.10 and 23.04 on my system. But after
upgrading to 23.10 most of the time when plugging it into the headphone
jack of my machine, audio output works perfectly fine h
I'm on stable and was also affected by this issue.
I just did the update and it seems like it fixed it for me as well.

gnome settings everything is nearly on default
after clicking on sharing the settings app does not respond any longer
forcing a quit and reopening goes to the same option page and stuck again.
