the Users panel with gnome-control-center 1:44~alpha-0ubuntu1, but the
issue seems not to be present in the coming version 1:44~rc-1ubuntu1. So

laptop lid was closed and screen locked and I wasn't doing anything with

UPDATE: disabling ubuntu-dock seems to have resolved things. Initially
it was about 50/50 whether I could open or see windows properly until I
rebooted. I've now done 3-4 reboots and it's worked every time.

I have seen the same bug pretty consistently. After upgrading
