A workaround, if you really need auto-login, is to install lightdm (at
this point still choose gdm3), enable auto-login via gnome settings,
then switch to lightdm (sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3). Not sure why it
autologins but it does. Can't lock the gnome session however as not
using gdm anymore.

Actually, it additionally solved a delay issue on login screen when
recovering from suspension and a delay on xdotool commands. Is it

sensor in a recent ThinkPad.
Multiple fingerprints can be enrolled, it's still possible to remove the

I applied the patch attached (libX11) but the crash still occurs with less
frequency.
Maybe i missed some additional patch required to fix this.
For the record:
I am running LUbuntu in this PC box (upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04) and i
have another one with Ubuntu 18.04 + LXDE installed from scrat
