Just thought I'd share my miser with the HP 1020 printer.
I've suddenly started having the same issues with my HP 1020.
Running MATE 19.04, with mainline 5.1.9 kernel, and HPLIP 3.19.5
I've removed and install HPLIP from scratch (multiple times), printer
works fine, but after reboot I get HPLIP
Could either of you please run `sudo apt update` and attach the output
from `apt show gstreamer1.0-vaapi` afterwards?
It is hard to tell, but based on the screenshot it seems to consider an
older version of gstreamer1.0-vaapi as the latest which cause problems
when the dependencies find the newer
...oh, and the output from `apt policy gstreamer1.0-vaapi` as well? :)

I am using 19.04. I have a Pentium G4600 desktop (Intel NUC, kaby lake,
intel 630 HD graphics) and have gotten hard lockups on average every 24
hours, and always while playing video usually in chrome. This system
was rock solid with 18.04 :(

I have tested the daily build ISO from this morning UTC. If I enter
Ubiquity's welcome screen, select zh_CN from there and "Try Ubuntu",
"Intelligent Pinyin" is now - unlike before - active in the resulting
session, and I can select it via the input source indicator or
+ and start inputting Chinese
