Google has several hits for swlDrmAllocateOffscreenMem+0xe so it looks
like I am not the only one finding this crash.
Can fglrx-updates be switched to a newer driver release? Perhaps ATI

I installed fglrx via jockey (Alternative Drivers).
On reboot I got the message that X was running in low graphics mode.
Looking at the xserver log I can see there was a crash in fglrx_drv.so.
I tried fglrx-updates and it had the same crash.

I can confirm that using QasMixer to adjust the configuration settings
fixes the incorrect default configuration. It looks like Ubuntu
configuration ships by default to send audio on this sound card to the
front ports (if they exist), rather than the rear ports (that always

I'm having similar issues with flash (specifically youtube) and firefox.
The tell-tail sign besides firefox freezing is pulse audio stop working
for anything. I can kill firefox (via tty1) but sound doesn't work until
I either logout/login or reboot.

LibreOffice Calc is removing the sheet names form some of my
calculations when I save my spreadsheet. I have one sheet called
"Cities_Chart" with a comparison of different cities and data about
those cities and it comes up with a score by adding up the data with

As I've noted before, Trusty already has the equaliser module available
in the standard pulseaudio package:
$ dpkg -L pulseaudio | grep eq

So at least in Trusty this is actually fixed. All the critical "hard to

The screen brightness does not reliably respond to adjustments anymore since
14.10 release.
Previously in 14.04 it was adjustable via a slider in Ubuntu Control Center and
via the keyboard buttons (so there is driver and keyboard support for this
laptop).

After chaning the old modem to a 4G one I've got:
