@Logan: gotcha, applogies! Marco Trevisan mentioned on Google+ that a trace made when the glib and gtk dbg packages were installed would be helpul, but I probably didn't submit the trace in the way he intended. He also said to install compiz and unity dbg packages, but I can't seem to find them.
