A guest session is passwordless by design, so screenlocking should
indeed be disabled. In Ubuntu this is accomplished in
/usr/lib/lightdm/guest-session-auto.sh
which is run at login and includes this command:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen t
I'm able to reproduce this problem when I connect ipad to my laptop via
usb.

Actually, I believe unity is responsible for the lockscreen for 14.04.
It was previously the responsibility of gnome-screensaver.

This is not a gnome-terminal bug, but due to the design of ssh/scp.
In your .bashrc/.profile, make the echo happen only if it's output to a
terminal, e.g.
if [ -t 1 ]; then
echo whatever you wish to see on login
fi

This bug manifested itself only recently (kernel update?). I have sound
through the internal speakers but nothing (except occasional clicks)
through the headphones. 'What device did you plug in?' dialog appearing
fine, headphones show up in sound preferences, test sounds not

not scoped to you, or your problem. So your hardware and problem may be
tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu (not Linux Mint) by
executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default
