Okay, I guess I have to recall my statement, I didn't realize it at
first. Due to the i915.enable_hangcheck=0 it seemss that not simply the
3d died and Gnome3 WM died, but with this the screen went black and
didn't react on anything. Interestingly there were no messages at all in
the log files.

I'm trying to run an app under Wine which had really distorted/echoey
sound. Toggling the configuration profile in Pulseaudio did fix it...

computer has space to vent heat, and I've not had any problems since. I

I was also using Mutt when reporting this bug and this fixed it. Can you check
/etc/mailcap to see if it has -no-oosplash in it, and also if you have a
.mailcap file in your home directory? The full list for mutt is apparently:

after installing fglrx i also added the xorg.conf with radeon instead of intel.
now the cinnamon process goes from 0 up to 20% when something is moving on the
screen (firefox, mostly).
The down part is that moving windows around is a bit "laggy" without any
apparent reasons.

Shift + Escape keybinding to show the (system monitor / process list) in

This appears to be back on 12.04.1 in the pulseaudio-1.1-0ubuntu15.1
package. As far as I can tell, the exact same patch used previously can
fix it.
