On second thought... it would mean people installing gnucash who don't
want the python bindings would need to pull in un-necessary python
packages. Maybe a second package, gnucash-python, that includes the
bindings and extra packages would be a more elegant solution? Then you
could choose to instal

I've found these bindings really helpful - in fact, it's the difference
between making the package useable or not for our organization.
I'm not sure what, if any, significant draw backs there are to enabling them.
