I'd like to second this request. Additionally, the v8 dist contains a sample program demonstrating the use of the v8 library, 'samples/shell.cc' that provides a minimal interactive shell and interpreter for .js files; This might be appropriate to install and add as an alternative for 'js'. - Nels
