the project who could help out?... It's certainly not worth paying one for
the sake of a single package (have you SEEN their fees?.. Eesh..), but if we

Not all people will have to apply for a patent license to use it, only
certain people. That should qualify it for non-free, in much the same way
ssh2 is in non-free because commercial users need to license it.

Lame does not contain any of the Fraunhofer Institute code, the lame source
code is fully GPL. Other mp3 encoders, refered to at wnpp/unable-to-package
