The "diald" dial-on-demand package is probably doing it. You can
"apt-get remove diald" to get it out of the way, at least until you
at some device

That'll create a shell script capable of recreating all the broken
symlinks (except those where the symlink filename or value contained
whitespace---hopefully you don't have any of those that matter).
After you've double-checked that the commands in FIX_MY_SYML
dev made it through intact.
It'll depend on your kernel and what other "special filesystems"
you've mounted. If you run "mount" without options, it'll list what's
mounted, and you can figure out what isn't a real filesystem from
there. In addition to &q
to finish your fiddling
within that time window or use "mail-touchlock" to keep the lock
fresh. (See the mail-lock(1) manpage for more information.)

A stuff working with the
stock kernel, that would be another good solution.

The Bash-specific solution already proposed:
for (( i=0; i<80; ++i )); do echo -n '*'; done; echo
has the advantage that, since "echo" is an internal command, the
entire loop
ld be appreciated.
Thanks

I feel like RedHat has sold out on me as a paying customer, so I'm looking at Debian.
I've run into a few problems, though...
First, the framebuffer console looks hideous on my laptop. I searched the list
archives, but the only solutions I found were using the kernel parameter 'vga=normal'
(n
ipping the DVD
2. a tool for browsing and then editing the ripped portions into 30 sec
clips
Many thanks

I've installed 3.0r1 a few times now on my laptop, and I'm still running into
problems. I used apt-get to install a newer kernel-image and matching
kernel-pcmcia-modules. It boots, but pcmcia won't load and I have no network.
Assuming I start with a fresh install, what commands should I run t
recisely the point. I need these 30-sec clips to play
out of the box (on Windoze) just like the trailers you see at
moviefone.com or any of the other movie sites.
Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
Thanks. Making progress.

Hi All,
Can someone tell me if it is possible to mount a filesystem from Debian
3.0r1 (powerpc) into Windows 2000 Pro?
If so, can you give me step-by-step instructions, or point me in the right
direction, on how to do this?
Thanks,
