roblem here? Should the touchpad be accessed via another node? Or isn't it
propper detected? I thought /dev/input/mice should make the mouce transparent

In kernel 2.6 all devices were mapped through the standart ps2 device /dev/
psaux. This old fashioned interface is no more present in the new kernel.
Every input is now managed via HID.

I tried to format a 40GB partition with mke2fs.
I typed:
mke2fs -b 4096 -i 4096
After writing 135 of 12215 (or similar) tables the programm processes
very slow and was not finished after one hour formating... after one
hour it was on the 145 table.
Where is the problem here? Since now i ne

Debian uses getty as the tty program. Getty does not blank the screen when
its invoked. Other distri namely SuSE, take mingetty for that job wich is able
to blank the screen.
I did not find an option wich lets getty blank the screen so wich are my
options to get that feature? write a script w

connect with a client it creates a filelist. My Rsync server is an older

means he/she can alter the file permissions in the files he/she ownes (with
chmod)
I tested the following: As a normal user i crated a file in my homedir.
% touch test
I changed it to a exec file.
% chmod 700 test

On my earlier SuSE system "less" was able to read gzipped text files. Can i
get less to do it also on Debian?

re only for the init
scripts.
E.g. the actual configuration for sshd wich i have to place a
"sshd_not_to_be_run" file in the ssh dir is very strange!! This way we have
no more central managment.

I use tar to do my backups.
For now i allways do full backups. Is tar able to treat only changed files?
That would make my bakups smaller... :-)

I have a new Grafic Card and have no time to configure it probbably at the
moment. Is there a driver wich i can use for all Cards shipped with XFree?
Some driver like that is used if i start xf86setup?

I need some help. I tried now everithing to get my
IntelliMouse Morking under X 4.0.2. Not succsesfull until today.
I have gpm disabled to do not confuse X. I tried
every protocol X serves on the psaux port. But my mouses flips around and stays
in the right upper corner of the screen

It seams that there is a problem compiling the designer. But why is QT trying
to link something with KDE libs (kdevelop) i haven't enabled "-kde" in the
configure process. The referece errors are often X related. I have X 4.0.2
installed that shouldn't be a prob
