I want to make a .deb package. In order to to that I try simply
to see if I can remake an existing one. I took the hello package
and I did 'dpkg -i hello_1.3-16.deb test/'. Then I went in the
test directory and I did `dpkg-deb -b --nocheck . hello_1.3-16.deb'.

I have a problem with the X server.
I have a new PC, with P IV on a Intel 850 chip set
with a PS2 mouse and keyboard.
I run Xfree 4.1.0.1-3 and kernel 2.4.10ac12.
My problem is that I can't use the mouse and sometime the

I change my work place and I can have a Linux computer at work. The network
at work is with proxy, so after reading about it I was able to make apt
from the netinstall disk to talk with proxy. I have now a working Debian
stable running. The proxy settings were in fact a *.pac file, which I

work also for apt.
Next step try to ssh out via proxy...

As I said in one of my previous posts, udev will not create
/dev/sdaX, nor their counterpart using names or uuid. So I
can't do that.
I still have this problem...
Renaming all dot-files in $HOME I can only login if I use icewm as window
manager. All the other will fail. With icewm I can run some programs, while
attempting to open others will log me out. Again, this is for all users.
Programs that will crash the window manager ar

Thank you, renaming .config doesn't change anything. The folder is not
even re-created. I was not aware of the existance of this .config
folder. There are not new files in there...

After jesse -> stretch upgrade my DYMO label printer is using a
different font. Before I could fit 6 lines on a label, each line with
18 characters.
Now it fits only 5 and a half lines and 16.25 characters in a funny
way. The first 3.25 characters do not show up, only the following
ones.

Anyone care to explain what exactly means the -g option of sort? The
fine manual only says "general numerical", but I doubt that is true,
because -g (and all other options I have tried, -n, -M, -h, -V) will
