I recently decided to add lyx to my debian system. It seems
straightforward. However, I tend to make forms with the "\typein"
command. When I add this to a lyx document (and mark it as a tex
command), I get errors. Any help??

Okay, everybody says lyx is great, but for the darnest, I can't get it
to work with latex's \typein.
Here's the text ...
Now is the time for all good men to party.

Is there a way to keep the bo distribution of debian and install Wine?
I was thinking that you might could downgrade and use the older version of
libc5 which doesn't conflict w libc6, then just add the libc6 program,
make links, and then install wine.
Then you could just wait until Hamm becomes B
On two occasions, I've tried to install the debian package for apfilter.
When picking an option for "further descriptions of the printers", the
script has terminated with a "Out of memory, zless."
Is there a way around this ?

I've been using debian for about 5 weeks. I'm just starting to think about
adding some programs, not in the packages, to my system. One such program
came in the form of "program.bin.gz". I figure I can use my debian gunzip
to get the first part of it unzipped. I have no idea what to do with the

I'm about 2 months into using debian linux so I still use a lot of dos
programs. I devised this shell script that allows me to make X a command
center that can call and open full consoles with programs already loaded.
It supposedly relieves me from having to open the console, remember which

I downloaded the debian package for Message Handler. It seems to be a
nifty program. I've tried to configure it correctly, but some unknown
reason I can't seem to compose letters for debian-user lists. There's
also a bug wherein it won't view the digest formats. The net has a patch

I downloaded the debian package for message handler email system. Turns
out it doesn't view the digest list formats correctly. On checking the
net, I found under mh's homepage, there's a patch. I'm a newbie and have
very little C expertise, how do I patch the debian package ?

I can't seem to get mutt to work, it keeps saying it can't find a mailbox
