There is a bug in Debian-1.2.1 concerning zlib1_1.0.4-4.deb
The most programs have a Dependency-rule like this: zlib1 (>=1.03-1)
and this is not satisfied by the new Package zlib1_1.0.4-4.deb
I think renaming all files with zlib1_1.0.4-4 to zlib1_1.04-4 should
solve the Problem

Writing mails with the command line "mail" ends up with the correct

I can't help you there. While I use (and maintain) tob and afio, I never use
muti-volume backups as I do them off-line anyway. I just define my backup
"volumes" such that they will fit on one 170 MB tape. That holds /etc, /home
and /usr/local, which is all I need.
