Why limit yourself to just KDE and Gnome?
What about blackbox? enlightenment, fvwm, cde, window maker, icewm,
sawfish, afterstep, etc

How can I change my permissions so that root can run things on the X Display
of my normal user? For example, if I drop to a command prompt, su to root,
and try to configure the kernel by typing in "make xconfig" I get the error:

I'm running Debian unstable and just downloaded all of the Xmame .debs.
Unfortunately I can't get Xmame to run. It seems as though the executables
were not included in the packages. Am I losing my mind or has anyone else
experienced this problem?

Has anyone else running Unstable noticed that multiple tty sessions (ie:
ALT-CTRL-F1, F2, etc.) is gone? As well I have noticed that I can't start a
