kernel package? I just burned debian-2.2_rev2 cd and tried to upgrade my
existing debian system but it doesn't seem to upgrade kernel package to 2.2.18

I have been asked to start looking into providing an EPOS system for the shop
that I work at. I am hoping to be able to develop all the software myself
(using Perl and the GTK+ bindings). However, I have no idea about how well or

find gtk-config. I found a reference searching Deja to libgtk-dev,
but this package doesn't show up in dselect.

situation, I usually use update-rc.d and either
stick the init script into a specific runlevel
or just remove it from all runlevels.

You can do a 'locate .vim' to find where vim hides it's syntax files.
Mine are in /usr/share/vim/vim56/syntax. The files are pretty ugly,
but it should be too hard to find 'float' and add 'gfloat' to that
list.

I also used Linux as gateway/firewall/masq server to DSL and
now use Linux with Cable. I recommend this approach over using
Windows on technical bases. But Cameron may have some other
political issues with this approach in his family.

Install the non-free gimp plugin package to get gif support. In unstable
for GIMP 1.1, it's 'apt-get install gimp1.1-nonfree' There's also the

Well I got my kernel to compile and my cd burner now works (awesome) but
now my sound blaster live (10kemu1 chipset or something like that) is
now not working. I compiled support for it right into the kernel, and
during boot it (the card) gets assigned perfectly but when i try to

I had a problem with woody several days ago where X would die
immediately after starting, before the window manager took over. In
trying to fix it, I really messed up my X installation, so I decided to
downgrade to potato and did a fresh installation of 2.2r2. I did this
and everything was workin
