xdvitune not working properly

I'm having a heck of a time getting my display centered. I've played with xdvitune, as root, and using sudo. I can get the screen shifted to the left, as is with the 2 other computers, but as soon as I log out, and log back into X, it's back to the right. What is/isn't happening? Thanks -- R
