If I understand correctly you are using the right windows key as
compose. Are you sure it's different to the left one?

Hi,
I'm having a weird problem with my windows key : it seems to be

like W+x to launch a terminal.

Hi guys,
I used to use the Windows key as one key but with the recent upgrade, that
has changed.
If I recall correctly, both of these keys were mapped to Mod_4. Now in the
GNOME 2.8, it is mapped to a Super_L and Super_R.
Can anyone help me on how I can get my old keys back?

I'm having an issue with my Windows key. I'm trying to set up my

have Windows+D set to show desktop. In the shortcut tool this shows up
as Mod4+D.

Hi,
this is a mystery to me: Without changing any configuration, suddenly
the Alt-Gr Key (which I urgently need in German!) and the Windows-Key
which used to function as Meta-Key (for Emacs) stopped working.
I have no idea, why this should be so, and unfortunately no idea how I

Hello,
I am trying to get M-. working in my bash shell. It works on all of my
machines except one. I think it is because I chose the wrong keyboard
type during installation. My X configuration is the same across all my
machines.
The first option in the debian install is "Configure the Keyboar

By default, KDE uses the windows key on keyboards as a meta key, but you
don't seem to be able to use it by itself as an action key. Is there any way
to use it as a regular key?
What I'd like to do is duplicate the functionality of the windows key in
windows -- i.e. have it pop u
ctly and took all of 1 minute.
BTW: IIRC sawfish supports custom modifier keys (i.e. modifiers apart
from Ctrl, Alt, and Shift). What I do for the left windows key is:
keycode 115 = Hyper_L
add Mod2 = Hyper_L
I use Hyper_L for all bindings related to the window manager (thus

Hi,
A while back, I remapped the ms-windows key on my keyboard to open an
xterm. The mapping was done through sawfish configuration. I was
pleased to have a Microsoft-intended key open a program that is such a
bastion of *nix OS's. Anyway, maybe 2-3 weeks ago, the key stopped
responding.

I had this set once before, but not in a while to be sure now..
I think you need to hack the console keymap to bind 'M$' to ALT.
But there's a little thing on console about ALT<-->META mapping.
I don't believe emacs will recognise META and ALT seperately on the

I succeeded in making the 'windows'-keys useful for accents

I installed WindowMaker 0.19.2-1 from slink and tried to change the modifier
key to Meta instead of Alt.
Both xkeycaps and xmodmap say my Meta key is mod4, where my Alt key is mod1;
WPrefs also captures my meta-?? keypresses as mod4-??, ok.
I changed all occurences of mod1 with mod4 in ~/GNUstep/
