Do you mean an init script? I'd be very suspicious of any init script
complex enough to justify the use of Perl.

Does anybody know why startup scripts are always shell scripts?
A number of the Debian scripts (apache, postfix, discover...) use awk,
which is on the /usr partition. So is Perl. Why can't I write a startup in
Perl? Sure would make my life easier...
