This has happened to me a few times before, in 2.2 kernels and 2.4
kernels. I'm not sure where I should start looking first, but I have a
feeling that the X server could be a factor.

So how far do you get exactly? Do you get
LILO Loading Linux..
Sometimes I've counted 13 dots after "Loading Linux" before reboot.
Yesterday I don't recall having seen any dots before the reboots,
but I wasn't specifically paying attention to dots at the time.
