you need to find that file... whatever it is called...
you need to find the kernel that supports your scsi controller...
since you have /dev/hda... its 10x simpler to boot linux off of hda
and redirect it to /dev/sda for its root fs... etc...

installed the new kernel and before rebooting?

or maybe it was the wrong scsi driver, i dont know.
NCR 53c875 (rev 38) is my scsi chip on a pci card.

- boot your server with a different media ( floppy or cdrom )
- make a boot floppy
# dd if=/vmlinuz of=/dev/fd0 bs=1024 )
# rdev /dev/fd0 /dev/sda1

now i am booting with disk and this is slow

If it's any help, I have an ISA sb16, and haven't had any problem with
it. I just recompiled the kernel, and enabled Sound Card Support, OSS
sound modules, then selected 100% sound blaster compatibles

didnt really work.
i dont know what to do really, my brother has a sb 128 pci and it works
fine, but buying new cant be the cure
