Hi All,
The problem was, I was busy doing an upgrade and CTRL-C'd the
operation. This lead to my dhcp not working. I fixed up dhcp and is
working fine now.

i've setted-up an old p100 box as a debian router (only router)
At boot, when reached 'Configuring interfaces ...' i've this error:
'Configuring network interfaces:eth1: linkup bla bla bla ..'
and a 'failed'. Eth1 is connected to my dsl-modem.
