Simple. Create them in your home directory.

John, someone posted recently a link to an X font deuglification mini-howto.
It isn't a proper part of LDP, so search standard search engines for it, or
scan your backlog of debian-user.
I haven't tried much of what is in the thing, I was thrilled to get xfstt
running, and left it at that. :)
