Hm, they consider removing a feature a bugfix :(
I use the kernel based pppoe stuff since half a year now (starting
with my own patched version of pppd) and I never cared about the (IMO)
usermode Version.
I think pppoe.so should be added to the ppp package again, or even

Hi there,
I've been using debian woody with the pppoe plugin provided by the standard
ppp package which comes with the distribution (2.4 Kernel-Mode pppoe).
Because of a strange lookup of the system I tried to upgrade some parts of
the system to newer ones.
Anyway, when upgrading ppp t
I just upgraded ppp and ppp-pam to version 2.3.6-1 that is in

A friend of mine who I recently converted to Debian is encountering a
conceptual problem with the PPP package.
He has a dynamic IP, but wants to keep his connection up as much as
possible. So, since the Debian ppp options file includes the persist
option by default, we thought we were okay. And
Where are the ppp-on, ppp-dialer, and ppp-off scripts that are supposed to
come with pppd ?? I can make a ppp connection manually, but I have no idea
how to automate the process!
thanks, chris.
