I noticed this on one of my debian boxes I was securing last week,
it looks like portmap is started in /etc/rcS.d,
When I run "nmap" and "rpcinfo" after a fresh boot, I get the
following values:
# nmap localhost
Starting nmap V. 3.10ALPHA4 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ )
Interesting ports on beta (127.0.0.1):
(The 1599 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed)
