Hi. I just did an upgrade and found myself with a new version of
apt-move with incompatible changes from previous versions.
I did an apt-move fsck and then an apt-moveget which worked ok. When
I tried an apt-move move it skipped a number of packages including
the newest samba packages which I h

Aphro,
Spot on! Removing the interface binding means it works but I assume this
means everyone on the Internet has access to the share which is not what I
wanted. smb.conf reads :

netbios name = gateway
workgroup = workgroup
server string = %h server (Debian)

Hi all,
I just got to step 3 of the samba diagnostics when I found my problem.
gateway:/home/patrick# smbclient -L gateway
Client started (version 2.0.5a).
resolve_name: Attempting lmhosts lookup for name gateway<0x20>
resolve_name: Attempting host lookup for name gateway<0x20>

I upgraded my samba package to frozen (2.0.6), and now it doesn't work with
my old smb.conf file. I've been up and down the samba docs and I've tried
all sorts of options which don't seem to have any effect (which probably
means I'm missing something basic). I can't even list the shares on the
I recently installed the 2.0.5a-1 version of samba, and now I've seemed to
lost access to shares stored on this machine from my win98 boxes. I'm using
the same smb.conf file, but windoze either says "no permission to access
resources" or asks for a password for "//SERVER/$IPC" or something like

In my previous message, I actually sent the wrong printcap. Sorry for the

Hi!
I've finally installed samba + lprng on an ageing i386. I have two
parallel ports, and a printer attached to each. I'm using debian hamm.
This is /etc/printcap:

Hallo!
I've one problem:
I used to work with samba 1.9.16alpha10 . Everything was fine except one
thing - after some time started new samba daemons (I was running it as a
daemon, not from inetd) and they ate my CPU - idle was << 1% and load
average after 1-2 hours was about 3.00-
