For a preview release of xine, please add the following
line into your /etc/apt/sources.

User who is accessing the vcd in the cdrom drive does not
have permissions to do so. Please add the user, say 'foo'
to the 'cdrom' group by doing 'adduser foo cdrom' at the
su/root prompt.

from a posting to this list and getting it to play vcd's on a hamm
system with a standard kernel.
Looking around for it again and itching to try it on my fairly new
