Hi,
I've searched a little too long now for an solution to what I think is a very
simple problem.
I'm compiling a kernel in a subdirectory of my home with `make-kpkg
kernel-image` and I've got my .kernel-pkg.conf set up to:
maintainer := Sukant Hajra
MODULE_LOC := $(HOME)/src/linux/mod
I noted strange behavoir after installing linux-kernel-2.4.21-4.On
reboot, a host of modules that I had never selected with modconf were
installed. They were not in /etc/modules, however, so the kernel upgrade
had clearly not modified this file (although they did appear selected in
modconf - perhap

It's not there either...

Thanks...althought it seems that I was using the wrong driver for the network
card (I was trying 3c95x, and found a 3c90x driver). Of course I can't get my
machine to talk to the DHCP server yet, but I'm woring on it. I got ppa to
work by recompiling the kernel.

"modinfo -p " will list the parameters a module takes.

I'm attempting to install debian 2.2r on a new Dell 4100, and I'm having
problems with two modules. My network card is 3c905c-tx, and I've tried
installing the 3c515 module using both no arguments and irq=3. In both cases I
get an error message: invalide paramater param_irq. Any suggestions o

I am trying to get out of the habit of modifying my system as root and
am attempting to modify fvwm2 as a user. I am having some problems.
This is what I have done.
copied /etc/x11/fvwm2/system.fvwm2rc to ~/fvwm2rcchown to user
created ~/.fvwm2 directory
copied /etc/
Just for completeness:
After installation, you can still alter your choice of modules by running
modconf.

What special hardware do you have ?
Typically, you don't need any extra modules. Standard hard
drives, and mice , and CD's don't need any modules. The video drivers are
installed later (well not really 'intalled') with X
A network card will need a module.

Hi
I am installing Debian from the Boot disc number 15. I am following the
installation instructions from the Boot magazine and am stuck at
selecting the correct modules.
There are several categories to go through...'block, cdrom,
ls...etc.'...and under each one there are more subchoices.
