Hello,
i download Mosaic for Linux and when i run it, it says:
Mosaic: can't find library 'libXt.so.6'
I find that libXt.so.6 is in /usr/X11R6/lib. I use Debian 2.1
Hello everybody,
Ever since I upgraded my libc6 package, programs can't load libXt.so.6.
I found it on my hard-drive in /usr/X11R6/lib/, so do I need to change a
path variable or something?
Thankyou,

It's not part of the GNU C Library, no. The "6" is the major version
number of the library itself. In this case that corresponds to the "6" in

I need libXt.so.6 to run both netscape and wordperfect. Is there a package
that contains this package? I very much need it.
On another note, what's going on with irc.debian.org? Is it down. It is
usually very helpful in discovering which package a given file is in. Hmmm.
Thanks,

Hi,
I recently started getting this error, while maintianing an up-tp-date

Which version of Netscape?
If it is libc5 perhaps you need xlib6 from the "oldlibs" section.

I just upgraded to hamm, and Netscape will not run, because
it cannot find libXt.so.6. Which lib in hamm provides this?

A little more info:
It appears that they are correct, however, I deleted the symlink and
reinstalled. Still no luck because I get the same error. I also just
checked ldconfig -v and it shows that it sees libXt.so.6:

I think this happened to me a while back. It turned out that
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 was a symbolic link to /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6.0,
and that second file did not exist.
I have had problems with multple programs finding 'libXt.so.6'. I am
hoping to stop giving up on packages/software because of this and actually
solve the problem. My recent confrontation was when I installed

I had exactly the same problem. The fix is to add "/usr/X11R6/lib" to
the list of directories in /etc/ld.so.conf.

I'm trying to install texbin (Debian 1.2 btw) and have run into the

I've had exactly the same problem, so it might be common.
I don't know how to fix
I've installed Debian 1.2 from scratch but dpkg indicates that it
can't find libXt.so.6 when I try to install the texbin package. I did
a search of the system and wasn't able to find a reference to this
library. What is it and where do I get it from?
