Trying to boot from USB HDD - linuxrc/initrd problem?

2006-09-06 Thread Robert Glueck
I've installed Xandros 4, a Debian derivative, on an external USB hard disk drive, and I'm trying to boot it from there. My laptop is able to boot USB storage devices, and I've succeeded in doing that with several other Linux distros (including the Debian-based Ubuntu and MEPIS), booting both

Hi, I have a debian-kernel 2.6.9 and I try to use bootsplash. The framebuffer is ok (vesafb 1024x768x16). Bootsplash works anytime but at boot-time (each console has a picture and the first console has an animation at shutdown-time.). However there's nothing during the boot on the first console. He

initrd problem fixed!

I finally got it to work. I re-read one of the patches I applied before, and I noticed something at the top of the file. The text said I should add `ramdisk_blocksize=4096' to the boot parameters. I did that, and the system booted flawlessly. (Except for one typo in the initrd image, which I could

initrd problem
