I believe human interface, used by USB mouse, is quite standard. Even Windows
98 has built-in
support. I think 2.4 can do it.

Try upgrading to 2.6. AFAIR 2.4 doesn't have a very good USB support.

What kernel are you using?

Now I want to config it in sarge. I enter
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
but I don't know which mouse option I should select.

If I change the resolution in XF86Config-4, e.g. from 1600x1200 to
1280x1024, the resulting display is too large and parts are off-screen.
How do I make it adjust to the different resolution?
I'm sure this is very elementary but I can't find it anywhere in the
docs.

Hi,
I added a "modeline" for 1280x854 resoloution in XF86Config-4 file and the computer

Hi all
The fontpath as in the subject seems to be the default for X4 setup.
Anyhow, I was surprised it did not work, since xfs-xtt does run, and is
afaik a font server.
Upon closer investigation, it seems that xfs-xtt is running at port
7110, since:
ps aux | grep xfs

Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my PS/2 two-button mouse to work
under XF86 4.0.2 (or whatever is the latest in Debian unstable). I'd
appreciate it if people could send me some examples of how they
have theirs setup. Mine jumps to the upper-right corner during KDE2's

ray, according to "man XF86Config", the answer is yes:
Protocol "protocol-type"
specifies the pointer device protocol type. The
protocol types available are:
Auto
BusMouse
GlidePoint
I will try that does anyone happen to know if the intellimouse is supported?
Thanks.

Depends on where your mouse is plugged in. The /dev/mouse is usually a
symlink to the actual device for the mouse. For example, on my system I use
a PS2 mouse. The device for a PS2 mouse is /dev/psaux And I've

Hi,
I want to set up different virtual screen sizes for XF86 using the same server
and color depth.
I know how to add a new Section "Screen" to XF86Config, but how do I specify
this from the command line at startx (or xinit)?
TIA,
