Hi
I just found out that the reason why our PC's are unable to ftp to the
outside (internet) is because they are behind a masquarading firewall. I
have tried passive mode but that did not seem to work... so i guess the
next option is to put a ftp proxy on the firewall. Has anyone had

IIRC you'll need dpkg-ftp from hamm to get the ftp method in dselect to
work with an authenticated proxy. But that's a catch-22 if you are trying
to use the ftp method to up
I tried to install hamm thru a ftp proxy. It did not work.
I tried ping my proxy and that was OK. But the install never could do a
connect. I dont know exaktly what went wrong other than it faild.
I tried to start dselect with debugging but that did not print anything
on the ftp connect.

Thanks for the suggestion - it appears that the
This one works for me, so assuming your ftp proxy uses the normal
[EMAIL PROTECTED] login, just set the ftp host to be the proxy
server, or proxy:port if required, and the username as
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
my settings are:
ftp site: green:2121
passive: y
username: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
password
Does anyone know if it is possible to set up dselect to use a ftp proxy
when using a ftp source? My ISP doesn't provide any other way to ftp.
Thanx in advance
