I want to receive a fax, via modem on my Debian PC,
edit it in GIMP and fax it back. Here's what I
think works:
- use mgetty to receive fax
- open fax in GIMP (GIMP can read but not write .g3 files)

ur mail makes interesting reading. I am trying to avoid buying a fax.
I'll just ask the other side to scan in the doc and email as attachment
to me. This won't be difficult with those all-in-1 machines.

I pulled down the newest star office suit. Would love to set up faxing, but
so far, all the help I found isn't helping at all. Is there a way to enable

(of course, you would presumably use a different phone number and

I've used Hylafax in the past and respect Sam's coding and knowledge
of faxing. and Hylfax fax has a very strong following. And I found it
relatively painless to setup but I've no experience with EFAX which appears
