the "issue" is already solved... There was an ancient EMACSLOADPATH
variable in the environment. So emacs was not able to find his startup
files...

i just installed debian/etch on my pc. I used the netinst-cd and than
added my local mirror to /etc/apt/source.list to get access to more
packages. After installing xorg and emacs via dselect (got nor error
messages so i assume everything is fine) and doing startx, invking emacs
