I know that I can access a shell via the d-i main menu.

I am aware that d-i allows to save debug logs but the goal I'm hoping

Many thanks to Christian, David, and Pascal!
With your hints I was able to solve the problems.
Lessons learned:
1. d-i needs to be in "low" questions mode (expert) to allow
manual selection of partition type (e.g. DOS/MBR or GPT).
2. d-i seems to call grub-install on /dev/md

Did you wipe all four drives, or at least the first and last 1 MB,

AFAIK, I don't need GPT for such small disks, right?
Is there an easy and safe way to change the disk from GPT to DOS/MBR?

Hey Chris just FYI another user posted:
debconf-get-selections from debconf-utils
Add '--installer' to get the settings for the installer, omit to get the
settings for all other (installed?) packages.
Which on quick glance, is what I was looking for. Eternally grateful,
thanks guys!

Hi All, I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find a comprehensive
list of debian-installer key/value pairs for preseeding. I discovered
/var/cache/debconf/templates.dat but that doesn't show *all* keys.

Hi,
I downloaded the latest d-i:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/sid_d-i/arch-latest/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso
and used it to install a lenny system but only with what was in the iso.
Ran into the following:
I don't want lenny, I want sid and have a sid
ag to sda4, and the
ploblem was solved.
Since I had 2 machines to setup, I choose the daily build for the second
machine. Got to the same problem.
If someone could confirm before filing a bug report agains D-I
Thanks

Hello list!
I am setting up an automatic installation using preseed. I'm using the
'd-i preseed/late_command string'
option to make it wget a script and run it.
My challenge is to make this script run in foreground because it is
interactive. How can I do that in d-i?
Blessings!

OK, so what would be the best way to achieve at least point 1

Hi,
two questions related to the current d-i (lenny) netinst CD:
1. I like to have half of my disk crypted (with /, /usr/, /home,
all in one crypted partition), and the other half without
encryption e.g. as /usr/local). What is the easiest way to
achieve this?
2. Because I
