I don't have access to a Linux desktop at the moment to workout the
exact steps. But since you're already familiar with the CUPS Web
Interface, it's just a matter of changing the "Connection" to
AppSocket/JetDirect.
So select the printer, then the "Administration" button, "Modify

I just had a similar issue yesterday with an HP Office Pro 7740. I ended
up installing using the socket (port 9100) interface.

I have reconfigured one of the 3 copies cups discovered for ipp-Everywhere
getting this in the printer menu:
Description:Brother MFC-J6920DW duplex copy Location:coyote.coyote.den
Driver:MFC-J6920DW - IPP Everywhere (color, 2-sided printing)

Hi,
since recently, all cups printers are disabled in my iceweasel and evince-gtk
print dialogs (I did
not check other programs). They are greyed out -- if I select one of them, the
"print" button is
disabled. The only way to print is to create a pdf, and then to print it via,
e.g., gtklp.

Thanks for your reply, George.
Whenever I start cups, it puts several random network printers located
in other people's offices into my /etc/printcap file and they show up
when I go to localhost:631.
There is an option in the config file to stop this happening (can't
remember which one.)

Hello,
I am running Debian Etch, and I have recently upgraded cups on my
system. Aside from all of the other problems which have already been
reported with the new version of cups, I have one I can't seem to find
much information on.
Whenever I start cups, it puts several random network pri
CUPS is one of those things I installed and it just works. Or did.
I'm looking for advice on debgging why I can't print from my laptop
(which has worked in the past).
I have a printer on "bumby" that works -- I can easily print using lpt
or from applications.

Hi,
I've installed CUPS in my box but I could not manage to have it
work properly, that is, I can print the test page but nothing else.
Even trying the "Print a File" from KUPS I can't print
anything. Also I can't access the admin page from localhost:631/admin.
