xine colormap problem

colormap problem

My computer has 96Meg, the Diamond 3D has 4Meg. However, I always get colormap problem. Look at printout of startx, and I found I was only using 6 bit per RGB. All I specified in XF86Config is 8, 16, etc. Seems I'm out of luck to get more colormaps... Thanks. Ji

I recently installed 1.3.1 (I am very new to Linux) and since the install (apparently succesful), the only color on my X windows is in the Afterstep icons and lettering in TkDesk; all else is greyscale. When I shutdown, I get a string of messages of the form:
