Try:
cat /etc/minirc.dfl
and use the same "port" that minicom is using.

There is a FAQ about PPP-over-minicom at metalabs, IIRC. It involves
setting a download method to call up the ppp daemon once you have
the connection established.

No. You must quote the entire argument to the connect option. Otherwise
pppd will get passed everything after 'chat'.
