buffers getting way out of control

I hope someone can help me with this - I'm not a Debian guru and I didn't find anything in the list archives that was relevant to this. Here goes: If I run free, I notice that after awhile the numbers on the buffers line show upwards of 4GB of memory. If I let this stay this way eventually things

Here's more info. If I stop the apache server everything seems to be normal: total used free sharedbuffers cached Mem:127924 75576 52348 11560 51012 -/+ buffers:24564 1336 Swap: 128484 0 128484

Well - upon more investigation I found this to be in the debian bug report logs - #12245. This report talks about bogus +/- buffers free readings. Sorry about the posts - I guess I should have dug a little further. Still doesn't explain my out of memory errors - hmmm. Robert Robert Zeches wrot
