Out of curiosity, why are you doing that? Apparently you don't use
etch, because...

I downloaded apt_0.6.46.4-0.1+etch1.tar.gz and decompress it. Then I
run ./configure and make. But I get the following error. Could
somebody let me know how to fix the problem?
