IBM Thinkpads work well with Linux. I'm using one now. There is a mailing list for linux-thinkpad users. In the same off-topic spirit, I'm seriously thinking of getting a Powerbook. Anybody have experience with OS-X versus Debian on one?

my brother is looking for a nice laptop, multimedia capable, light, in short: good. he will probably not run debian on it (although the last word has not been spoken here), but i figure i ask here anyway, because if a laptop runs debian just fine, it is a proper one. so we are looking for some P3

I seem to have heard a couple of mentions of Eiffel laptops on this mail-list before. It looks like they have some pretty good machines for sale. Are these machines any good at running debian? Does anyone have suggestions as to the ideal (considering price/performance) laptops for linux? Thanks
